Popsicle Time!

School’s out, Summer is in!  Time for lazy days, swimming holes, camps and cold treats.

Here’s an easy popsicle idea you can make at home!

I used pineapple and strawberries.

First, I pureed fresh pineapple chunks.

Then, I pureed fresh strawberries.

Pureed (pure-raid) means to process chunks of food until smooth, creamy and liquidy.  In other words or in science kind of language…solid matter changed into a liquid state.

Next it was time to fill the popsicle molds.  I saved some pineapple chunks and added a few first.

Then some of the pineapple puree on top of the pineapple chunks.

I thought it would be fun to experiment, so I added a little strawberry puree to the top of the pineapple puree.

For the next batch, I added some strawberry chunks,

then strawberry puree on top of the chunks.

After I filled all the molds with different combos of pineapple and strawberries, I placed the stick cap on and placed the tray in the freezer overnight.

The next day, I had these fun and fruity homemade popsicles!

With all the different fruits coming in season, you can make a gazillion different flavors.  You can also add a little sugar to your fruit if you like super sweet treats.

If your mom ask why in the world would you want to make homemade popsicles since you can easily buy store bought ones, please tell her this:  “the best thing about homemade popsicles is they have no bad stuff like food dyes, chemicals or high fructose corn syrup and you can make up your own flavors!”

Have a fun and safe Summer!

Happy Cooking 🙂
