Remember that?…I’m not sure who or where it came from but I remember Auntie singing it to us. She’d sing it with our name in it-thought we were cool back then, we had it going on. Today’s post is about bananas-shocked aren’t ya?
Have you ever thought, “What can I do with these left over bananas that probably won’t be good in about 30 minutes?” You hate to throw them out, but you’re sick of banana bread…what to do? That is the question!
If you have a recipe involving bananas, by all means, please share. Got any new, cool recipes or classic ones? We here in the blogosphere, love to share ideas, recipes, pics, and more. We’re a big ol’ family. So, share away………………….let the banana fest begin! You can post them here or email them to me at info@txcookingschool and I’ll post them for you.
Oh and about that banana song, if anyone has the scoop on where it came from, that would be cool to share too!
Have a “dole”licious day (sorry, couldn’t help it)
Love and butter,
Lori
OK here’s the scoop. “The Name Game,” also called the “The Banana Song,” was first released in late 1964, sung by Shirley Ellis. It was very popular mainly because you could inject anyones name in the song and get a different sound. The record went to #3 on the billboards Hot 100. It was re-released in 1966 and again in 1973. Shirley Ellis released other fun songs. One you may remember was, “Hand Clapping.”

Peel the bananas, put them in a freezer lock baggie then freeze them. They taste just like a banana popsicle!!
