A Taste Test

Eating chocolate- now this is definitely a test i can pass!  With the Easter holiday right around the corner, I thought it would be quite appropriate to indulge in my guilty pleasure…chocolate.  Not just any chocolate, but chocolate rabbits-thank goodness for chocolate rabbits!  Somewhere along the lines, I was inspired to do a taste test of the 4 most common brands found in my local grocery store  and determine the best one in the patch.

 The 4 competitors were:
Hershey’s

Palmers

Frankford

Russell Stover

To keep things fair, I tested only milk chocolate and approached it as if it was a wine tasting.  Chocolate and wine?  What else matters?  I also rated on a scale of 1-5, 5 being way good and worthy of praise.

Here are the results:

Frankford- flat, chalky aftertaste, lacking depth of chocolate-lite body  Rating: 2
Palmer- very sweet, sappy sugary, lacking depth of chocoalte-lite body Rating: 2
Russell Stover- creamy, smooth, milky, malty aftertaste, medium boldnes Rating: 3
Hersheys- very solid, super thick, creamy, soft finish, slight nuttiness, hints of almond, buttery, bold Rating: 4

There you have it…clearly, Hershey’s came out on top.  Look out Jaques Torres, Hershey’s is a force to be reckoned with.

More tests soon to follow…stay tuned!

Lori 🙂

Thats interesting. I would have guest RT was the best, but then when I reach for a choc fix its usually a hershy almond bar not a RT bar.
