Say CHEESE with this afterschool snack

When I was a kid a hundred years ago, one of my favorite afterschool snacks was a warm, ooey, gooey grilled cheese sandwich.  Here’s an updated version of that classic snack!

Apple Grilled Cheese

While you’re still a kid, you need to make this for yourself.  You’ll thank me later.

1. Spread mayo on bread.  Cannot get any easier.

2. Slice some cheddar cheese and put it on the bread.  You can also use shredded cheese.  I use both.  But please, please, please, use REAL cheese because life is too short to use fake cheese.

3. Slice an apple and place on top of the cheese.  I prefer Granny Smith, but you can use whichever apple you like.  It’s okay, no one will put you in time out.

4.  Top apple with more cheese.  Life is good but much better with cheese.

5. Heat a nonstick skillet and add a little butter.

6.  Once the butter is melted, place the grilled cheese in the skillet and press with a spatula.  Let it cook on medium heat for 1-2 minutes.

Then slowly and carefully flip it over using the spatula and your empty hand.  It’s not hard. Dont’ try to hurry, that’s when people get burned.

Press down with the spatula and let that side cook on medium heat for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set it on a cutting board.

Cut in half and take a look at the deliciousness you are about to enjoy.  Take a bite and say this.

Happy Cooking!
